FACTS AOUT THE 20 MM MG 151 CANNON
The Ju-87D-7/8 were improved ground attack variants based on the Ju-87D-5 which has the same design as the Ju-87D-3 but was unique for the Ju-87 as it had wings 60 cm longer than previous variants.
The Luftwaffe also upgraded the D-5/7 & 8 MG 17 gun barrels with two MG 151/20 cannons with or without flares to improve the ground attack capability especially during the night. Some MG 151/20 cannons were incendiary type called flame damper. The D-7 and D-8 were both fitted with flame dampers, and could conduct night operations on the European eastern front.
